Micah 5:7

And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.

When Christ came, literal Israel had long been subdued by Gentile powers, yet God still had a people as spiritual Zion. The remnant of Jacob in the midst of many peoples and nations is God's people set among them to bring His blessing.

Israel was chosen for this work to preserve the knowledge of God's law and of the symbols and prophecies pointing to the Saviour, and to reveal God to the nations as the source of salvation. Like dew from the Lord and showers upon the grass, that blessing comes from the Lord bringing refreshment, and does not depend on or wait for human direction, effort, help, permission, or response.

A godly life among many people fulfills this by bringing strength to the community, restraining evil, safeguarding those who are tempted, and guiding those seeking the right way.
