Micah 6:14

Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.

The verse comes after a list of sins that call down judgment: wicked treasures stored in the house of the wicked, the dishonest short measure, wicked balances and deceitful weights, rich men filled with violence, and inhabitants speaking lies with deceitful tongues, for which God strikes sick in smiting and makes desolate because of sins. Its four outcomes — eating without being satisfied, casting down in the midst, taking hold without being able to deliver, and giving up to the sword even what is delivered — are the punishment He appoints for that guilt. They are His rod upon His professed people for departing from Him, and that rod has come upon them.

The verse stands as warning that those who ignore and make light of His reproofs, corrections, and punishments will meet His judgments when it is too late to repent. It declares His mind against unfair action, false dealing, robbery, and speculation that makes others poor and brings suffering, warning that such unjust business ends not in satisfaction and deliverance but in divine condemnation and loss. It belongs to prophecy of the state of the world just before the second coming, when iniquity is widespread because His law is transgressed and the everlasting covenant, given on condition of obedience, is broken.
