Micah 7:13

Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.

The land shall lie desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings. That desolation comes because of the sins of its inhabitants. It comes because of the deeds of its inhabitants. This judgment belongs to a message of rebuke and warning. It stands in a chapter that portrays God's people humbled under reproof and surrounded by apostasy in the last days, a striking prophecy of last-day conditions. Indeed Micah 7 outlines the history of the church until Christ's second coming.

The verse describes the earth's desolation for one thousand years. That millennial desolation follows the gathering of God's people just before human probation closes. Yet the picture of desolation because of people's deeds accompanies their repentance, hope in God's salvation, and confidence that God will pardon and restore those who humble themselves.
