Micah 7:4
The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity. The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.
The verse belongs to Judah's moral decline in the dark period before the ten tribes were scattered. It describes a time when good people were disappearing and evil was increasing, when evil was growing while good was rapidly diminishing. In that condition even the best among them were like briers, and those regarded as most upright were as harmful as a thorn hedge, so corrupt a society that its best and most upright injure like thorns.
It warns that the appointed day of the watchmen and of visitation and judgment will come. Then perplexity will fall upon them.
