Nehemiah 10:33
For the shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.
Israel pledged a yearly stated sum for the service of the sanctuary, the house of God, to make provision to support public worship. This pledge was made in Nehemiah's time as a yearly contribution for the service of the house of God. It was made in addition to the tithe and beyond the tithe.
The tithe was to be devoted exclusively to the Levites set apart for sanctuary service. Yet the tithe was by no means the limit of contributions for religious purposes. The yearly payment provided for necessary repairs and other expenses connected with the tabernacle and afterward the temple.
