Nehemiah 10:35
And to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, unto the house of the LORD: And to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, unto the house of the LORD:
The verse preserves one article of a united pledge by the congregation to uphold the public worship of God. In it the people bound themselves to carry the first produce of their soil and the first yield of every kind of tree to the house of the Lord each successive year. That yearly firstfruits gift stood alongside and beyond their other fixed obligations for sacred service. It was additional to the tithe and additional to a set yearly payment appointed for the work of the sanctuary.
