Malchijah the son of Harim and Hashub the son of Pahath-moab took up another portion of the work on Jerusalem's wall, extending their labor to the tower of the furnaces. Their names stand joined to that second piece as builders who repaired a further breach in the city's defenses. The rebuilding of Zion's walls in this manner pictures the work appointed to parents and ministers. That work is to restore religious life within their own households and to strengthen those households until they serve as a defense for the people.
