Nehemiah 3:13
The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate. The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate.
Hanun together with the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired the Valley Gate, building it and setting up its doors with its locks and its bars, and rebuilding a thousand cubits of the wall as far as the Dung Gate. This labor belonged to the work of rebuilding carried on at Jerusalem under Nehemiah. Nearby chiefs stood against his plans and sought to hinder the work. The rebuilding of Zion's defenses in this manner pictures the call for parents and ministers to reform their households and to strengthen them as a defense for the people.
