Nehemiah 3:14

But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Beth-haccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

Nehemiah 3:14 belongs to the mission to rebuild Jerusalem, a work carried out amid hostility from neighboring leaders. Within that enterprise it records the repair of the Dung Gate by Malchiah, son of Rechab and ruler of part of Beth-haccerem. He built it and set up its doors with their locks and bars. That labor formed part of restoring the gates of Zion and strengthening the walls as a defense for the people.
