Scenes From the Book of Nehemiah Blended Togetherby KalebRosendahl

Nehemiah 4:20

In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.

The verse belongs to the rebuilding of Jerusalem under Nehemiah, when hostile neighboring leaders tried to obstruct his plans. The builders were spread out and scattered along the wall. At the sound of the trumpet they were to hurry to the place of danger where it was heard, so they could meet the threat together without delay. While they labored, half of them held spears from morning until night. The trumpet call announced that God would fight for them.

The verse assures God's people in times of discouragement and crisis that He is their sure defense. The response of faith is confidence that God is at work to uncover and defeat the enemies' plans. Nothing can prevent the ultimate success of His work.
