Nehemiah 6:14
My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear. My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
The prayer belongs to the time when the rebuilding of Jerusalem's wall was nearing completion, amid efforts to frighten and hinder Nehemiah. His enemies worked by secret schemes and repeated attempts to draw him away from the work, intending to harm him. Tobiah, Sanballat, the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets tried to put him in fear through their counsel and claims to speak for God, as part of a secret plot to make him afraid, lead him into sin, and give his enemies grounds to reproach him. The verse is a prayer asking God to remember and deal with them according to these evil deeds. The account sets the hatred, falsehood, and treachery of Sanballat and Tobiah against Nehemiah's nobility, devotion, and self-sacrifice, presenting them as contrasting examples that people may choose to follow.
