Nehemiah 7:18

The children of Adonikam, six hundred threescore and seven.

The verse belongs to the renewed numbering of the Jews recorded in Nehemiah 7. That numbering came after the wall was finished in fifty-two days, when proper officers and watches were appointed and even their enemies perceived that the work was wrought of God. It followed the settlement of oppression among the brethren by rebuke, covenant and restitution, and the defeat of the plots of Sanballat, Geshem and Tobiah. This setting is dated to B.C. 444.
