Nehemiah 7:40

The children of Immer, a thousand fifty and two.

The numbering of the Jews is given again in Nehemiah 7 in B.C. 444. It was made after the wall was finished in fifty-two days in spite of plots against the work. Even the enemies of the builders perceived that the work was wrought of God, and proper officers and watches were then appointed over the secured city. The account belongs to the Bible narrative of Babylonian life in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah that is confirmed by discoveries in ancient lands adjoining Israel and having dealings with Israel, with archaeology giving illuminating information about that life.
