Nehemiah 7:67

Beside their manservants and their maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.

The verse belongs to the renewed numbering of the Jews given after the wall was finished in fifty-two days and officers and watches were appointed, when even their enemies perceived that the work was wrought of God, in B.C. 444. It belongs to a list of the people and possessions of those who returned from captivity, exemplifying the lists of names and other records in Ezra and Nehemiah rather than stating a promise. It records 7,337 manservants and maidservants. It records 245 singing men and singing women among the returned congregation's servants and maids. It shows that women joined with men in singing in religious worship.
