Nehemiah 9:10

And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day.

Nehemiah 9:10 stands within the recounting in Nehemiah 9 of the works of the Lord in behalf of His people, rehearsing His goodness and deliverance toward them. That recounting sets what God had done for Israel in delivering them against their ingratitude and sin. He would not unite with or serve with their sins, and their turning away from Him separated them from Him. For that cause He permitted them to be brought under the control of heathen nations.

By this recounting Israel acknowledged the justice of God's dealings with them. The people then pledged themselves to obey His law.
