Numbers 11:30

And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

Numbers 11:30 stands in the wilderness proving that followed the exodus from Egypt, when meat was largely withheld and the diet God intended was freely given, bread rained from heaven as angels' food and purest water from the rock, with the promise to put no disease upon the people if they obeyed Him in all things. The manna did not satisfy Israel, and with mourning and murmuring against Moses and against God they longed for flesh meat and wished themselves back in Egypt by the fleshpots. In anger at their lustful appetite their request was granted, and that vast multitude was given quails in abundance to gratify their desire.

Then the people were left to reap the result of their transgression without a miracle wrought to preserve life, and a plague was sent in which great numbers, thousands, died in the act of eating while the flesh was still between their teeth. This reveals displeasure when appetite is allowed to control, for appetite was so strong that Israel would at times prefer slavery and even death rather than be deprived of meat. It likewise reveals that health reform and temperance in eating and drinking give clearer minds to discern what affects the salvation of the soul and what does not.
