Eleazar was to take the blood of the red heifer with his finger and sprinkle it seven times directly toward the tabernacle of the congregation as the offering for the congregation's purification. That blood was Christ's precious blood, shed in the full and complete sacrifice. The repeated sevenfold sprinkling signified the thorough cleansing, redemption, and purification from sin made possible through His sacrifice. The rite prefigured Christ's work of atonement and purification. His blood enters the holy place in the work of cleansing the sanctuary and reconciling God and humanity.
