Numbers 23:4
And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram. And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram.
Balak conducts Balaam from one point to another through Numbers 23 in the vain hope of inducing him to change the blessing of Israel into a curse. The movement from place to place is a deliberate strategy to obtain a reversed utterance against Israel. The repeated attempts picture the repeated efforts made to move a steadfast servant of God from his firm course. Such efforts fail because human applause and the fear of man are powerless to shake one who is sustained by divine power.
