Balaam Sees Israel's Tents and the Rising Starby emmanuel_higgins

Numbers 24:4

He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

The verse belongs to the account in which Balak led Balaam from place to place in hope he would turn Israel's blessing into a curse, but Balak could not make him reverse the vision and the blessing. The speaker is Balaam, who heard the words of God and saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance yet having his eyes open.

In that vision he blessed Israel, declaring its tents and dwellings goodly, beautiful and flourishing. He described them as spread out like valleys and like gardens, as planted aloes and as cedars beside rivers and waters. His prophecy presents the tents of Jacob and the tabernacles of Israel as fair to behold, growing beside water in abundance and vitality.
