Numbers 3:27
And of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izeharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites. And of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izeharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites.
Kohath was a son of Levi, and the Kohathites were his descendants. They were divided into four families, the Amramites, the Izeharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites. Among the Levites they were given a distinct place and duty, camping on the south side of the tabernacle and having charge and care of the ark and its other sacred furnishings.
