Numbers 3:28
In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary. In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.
The verse belongs to the account of the Levites and their assigned service in caring for the sanctuary tabernacle. The counting it describes was of males from a month old and upward. The Kohathites were the Levites given the charge of the sanctuary. Their particular responsibility was the ark and the other sacred furnishings.
