Numbers 30:14
But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them. But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them.
Numbers 30 provides the only instruction in Scripture for releasing persons from vows made to God. That instruction deals with vows and offerings. It governs the relation that vows to God sustain between a man and his wife, and between a father and his daughter while she is yet in her youth in her father's house. If a husband hears his wife's vows and the bonds upon her and holds his peace at her from day to day, he establishes all of them and confirms them. His silence makes them binding. The chapter as a whole also shows under what circumstances such a vow may become void. Applied to household life, this means a wife who cooks swine's flesh at her husband's request is not counted guilty for doing so.
