Young Woman Speaks Her Vow Before Her Fatherby emmanuel_higgins

Numbers 30:4

And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.

The verse concerns a daughter still living in her father's house who makes a vow and a bond by which she binds her soul. If her father hears her vow and holds his peace at her and remains silent, all her vows and every bond stand and remain binding. They stand unless they are made void under the other circumstances described in the chapter.

Vows made to God remain binding and must be faithfully kept, for all vows stand firm. The verse calls each person to examine himself by asking whether he is faithfully keeping his vows. Applied to whether a wife is guilty for cooking swine's flesh for her husband, the principle of the verse means she would not be accounted guilty for doing so.
