Numbers 30:9

But every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against her.

Numbers 30 belongs to the only instruction in Scripture for releasing individuals from vows made to God. It explains the relation that vows sustain between a man and his wife and between a father and his daughter while she is yet in her youth in her father's house. It shows under what circumstances such a vow may become void. Every vow by which a widow or a divorced woman has bound her soul stands against her and remains binding upon her. That enduring obligation presses the personal question whether each one is faithfully keeping his own vows.
