Numbers 32:31
And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As the LORD hath said unto thy servants, so will we do. And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As the LORD hath said unto thy servants, so will we do.
The words are the reply of the children of Gad and the children of Reuben to Moses, pledging to do just as the Lord had commanded His servants. They were spoken to meet his fear that by settling east of the Jordan they would withdraw from the common cause and leave the burdens and responsibilities of conquest to their brethren. In giving this assurance they promised first to prepare homes for their families on the eastern side. Then, with their households secured, they would cross over and fight alongside the other tribes. They would continue in that shared warfare until all Israel had received its inheritance.
