Numbers 33:28

And they removed from Tarah, and pitched in Mithcah.

The move out of Tarah to encamp at Mithcah is one recorded stage of Israel's journey through the wilderness. It stands among the encampments between Hazeroth and Kadesh-barnea, on the way toward the place from which the spies were sent. About this stop and the surrounding encampments on that stretch no notable event is recorded.

The stage belongs to a chapter full of names to pronounce, yet holding refreshing spots such as the fountains and palm trees of Elim. That same chapter leads forward into the death of Aaron, the warning concerning the idolatrous inhabitants of Canaan, the border of the land, the cities of refuge, and Zelophehad's daughters.
