Numbers 34:27

And the prince of the tribe of the children of Asher, Ahihud the son of Shelomi.

The verse names Ahihud the son of Shelomi as the prince of the tribe of Asher. He was one of the princes appointed from each tribe to attend to and take part in the distribution of Canaan among the tribes. The bounds of the country to be divided were fixed beforehand. The apportioning of the whole land, both what was already conquered and what was yet unsubdued, was committed to Joshua with Eleazar the high priest and the heads of the tribes.

The location of each tribe under this arrangement was to be determined by lot. It was then the duty of each tribe to fully subdue its own inheritance. If faithful to God He would drive out its enemies, and still greater possessions would be given if true to His covenant. The tribe of Levi was not counted in this tribal allotment because devoted to sanctuary service, receiving forty-eight cities in different parts of the country as its inheritance instead.
