And as for the western border, ye shall even have the great sea for a border: this shall be your west border.

The tribe of Levi was not counted in the allotment, but forty-eight cities were assigned to the Levites. It was the duty of each tribe to fully subdue its own inheritance, and if the people proved faithful to God and true to His covenant He would drive out their enemies from before them and give them still greater possessions.
