No ransom or atonement price may be accepted for the life of a murderer who is proved guilty of intentional killing. He must surely be put to death, and the guilty are not to be allowed to escape punishment but are to be given up to it. Human life is to be sacredly guarded because God alone can give it. The safety and even the purity of the nation require that the sin of murder be punished severely.
