For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their father’s brothers’ sons: For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their father’s brothers’ sons:
The five daughters of Zelophehad married within their extended family in obedience to a divine regulation. That regulation governed the marriage of heiresses who had received an inheritance in Israel. The directions on this subject form much of the material in Numbers 36. That chapter stands near the close of the book of Numbers.
