Numbers 36:12
And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father. And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.
The verse stands among the closing instructions that conclude the book of Numbers. Those final directions regulate the marriage of heiresses who hold an inheritance. In keeping with that rule, the daughters who received their father's landed inheritance took husbands from within the families descended from Manasseh the son of Joseph. By marrying inside those families, their allotted inheritance was kept within the tribe of the family of their father.
