Numbers 36:3

And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.

Numbers 36:3 belongs to the laws for the inheritance of Zelophehad's daughters and of heiresses generally. If such daughters married men from other Israelite tribes, their inherited land would pass to the tribe into which they married. That land would be taken from the inheritance and lot of their fathers' tribe, reducing that tribe's allotted inheritance. The concern addressed is the risk of this transfer of inherited land from one tribe to another through marriage outside the tribe.

In this verse, lot means a tribe's allotted share or inherited portion of land. That allotted share was determined by Providence. This inheritance sense is distinguished from the lot in which Daniel stands in Daniel 12:13, which refers to his place in the judgment of the righteous dead, not to an inherited portion of land.
