Numbers 4:47

From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation,

Numbers 4:47 concerns the Levites' service of ministry and their service of burden-bearing at the tabernacle of the congregation. Their appointed work included erecting the tabernacle and camping around it to guard and attend it. When Israel journeyed, their work was to take the tabernacle down and carry it, together with the ark, the candlestick, and the other sacred furnishings. The Levites were honored with this sacred trust because they had not joined in making and worshiping the golden calf, and because they had faithfully carried out God's order against the idolaters.
