Numbers 6:21

This is the law of the Nazarite who hath vowed, and of his offering unto the LORD for his separation, beside that that his hand shall get: according to the vow which he vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation.

This is the law for one who has vowed as a Nazarite, requiring him to act according to the vow he made under the law of his separation and to present his offering to the Lord for his separation, besides whatever more his hand is able to provide. Bringing that separation to its close involved costly purification sacrifices still to be offered for each person as the period was ending. The expense could be borne by another, so a person of means could help a poor person meet the cost. On one occasion this applied to four Christian men under the Nazarite vow whose period of separation was nearly complete. Paul, though poor himself, paid the charges for those four and joined them in the seven days of purification.
