Numbers 7:25
His offering was one silver charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: His offering was one silver charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering:
The offering described was that brought by the leader of Issachar. It consisted of a silver charger weighing one hundred and thirty shekels and a silver bowl weighing seventy shekels, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a grain offering. Both vessels were weighed after the shekel of the sanctuary, which was the standard weight by which they were measured. That standard was kept under the priest's eye, and it represents just measure and condemns fraud in weights and measures.
The verse belongs with the instructions in Numbers 4 to 10 concerning the Levites and the priests, various offerings and vows, care of the tabernacle, and regulations for marching. In calling the weight the shekel of the sanctuary, it calls the wilderness tabernacle erected by Moses the Sanctuary. That is one of fifty-six times during the forty years of Israel's journeying when the building God claimed as His dwelling-place is called by that name. The record of this tribal offering is self-explanatory.
