Numbers 7:85
Each charger of silver weighing an hundred and thirty shekels, each bowl seventy: all the silver vessels weighed two thousand and four hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary: Each charger of silver weighing an hundred and thirty shekels, each bowl seventy: all the silver vessels weighed two thousand and four hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:
The verse sets out the weights of the silver vessels presented for the tabernacle by the sanctuary standard, each charger at one hundred and thirty shekels and each bowl at seventy, with all the silver vessels together at two thousand and four hundred shekels after the shekel of the sanctuary. The sanctuary so named is the building erected by Moses in the wilderness of Sinai fourteen hundred and ninety years before Christ. It is the tabernacle, the dwelling-place claimed by God as His own and the place where His service was performed.
Furnished with the ark of the covenant, the mercy-seat, and the glorious Shekinah, it formed the heart and center of the religious worship of Israel under the typical system. It was made portable, to be taken down and carried with its sacred vessels by the consecrated Levites and to be set up again wherever the divine presence, in cloud by day and pillar of fire by night, directed the camp through the forty years of wandering.
