Obadiah 1:14

Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.

In the prophecy Jacob stands for believers and Esau stands for unbelievers. The charge not to stand at the crossway to cut off fugitives and not to hand over survivors is addressed to the unbelieving side against the believing side. It belongs to the closing conflict with the image beast. That is the time of distress for believers, when escape and survival are at stake and the sin condemned is joining their persecutors to intercept and betray them.
