Great Owl Among the Ruins of Edomby emmanuel_higgins

Obadiah 1:3

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

In the prophecy that contains this declaration, Jacob stands for believers and Esau stands for unbelievers. The enmity between the two brothers is therefore the enmity between the faithful and the faithless. That same Jacob-Esau conflict extends forward to the closing strife with the Image Beast. The self-exalting confidence exposed here belongs to the unbelieving side in that final confrontation.
