Philippians 1:7
Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
It is right and fitting to think well of all the believers with affectionate confidence and tenderness, because they are carried in the heart. They are all fellow partakers of grace, sharing in the work through support and fellowship both in imprisonment and in the defence and confirmation and establishing of the gospel. Their sincere faith gives ground for confidence that God will perform and complete the good work begun in them until the day of Jesus Christ, and the prospect that they will continue in that work is cheering.
All the converts are bound up with the heart's affections in harmony, Christian fellowship, and tender union. That caring sympathy embraces even those who are striving against temptation and in danger of falling, not only those already perfect in character. To be a partaker of Christ's grace means hungering and thirsting for righteousness and consecrating the life to Christ, which results in serving Him and doing His will without self intruding.
The verse gives a pattern of tenderness and compassion for ministers to love newly converted churches and to pray for them with joy. It likewise sets churches to live in good works and Christlike character with the day of Christ constantly in view.
