Philippians 4:14

Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

The words that they did well are a commendation of the Philippians for sharing in affliction, suffering and hardship. That sharing was practical, giving material support to meet needs and to support the gospel while he was away from them. Their kindness is made more notable by the fact that he had been badly mistreated when he first visited Philippi.

Their giving began early in their Christian experience. While he was in Thessalonica they sent help more than once to meet his needs. Later they sent him help repeatedly while he was in prison in Rome.
