Philippians 4:17

Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

Paul did not desire the Philippians' gifts for what they could do for him personally. He rejoiced in them because the act of generous giving produced spiritual fruit in the givers themselves. That fruit would abound and be credited to their heavenly account. Their provision for his need was in God's sight a sacrifice that was acceptable and well-pleasing to Him.
