Proverbs 10:20

The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

The tongue of the just is precious and valuable like refined, choice silver. By contrast, the heart of the wicked is of little worth, even worthless. Speech tests and reveals the heart, showing what fills it, so the value of a person's words is linked to the heart they disclose.

A heart made spiritual through union with Christ produces spiritual conversation and spiritual words rather than frivolous talk. Those united with Christ cannot enjoy frivolous, cheap and trifling conversation, find it inconsistent with their character, and will not engage in or take part in it. Words and actions reveal inner thoughts exactly as they are, and the life unfurls like a banner what is in the heart, displaying goodness, righteousness and truth.
