Proverbs 10:21

The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

Proverbs stands among concise moral sayings that give practical instruction for life, and this verse teaches that the righteous sustain many by their words while fools perish for lack of wisdom. The righteous use their words for good, to nourish and benefit many, and to strengthen them. That nourishing is by spreading knowledge and giving wisdom and guidance to many, refreshing and gladdening their hearts.

Thinking truly meets the famine of the world, speaking truly plants a fruitful seed that feeds many, and living truly makes a life a great and noble creed. Even poor and despised believers nourish and enrich many, and can make others rich by what they say. Righteous speech nourishes many because right words are forcible, and speaking the right words at the right time with acceptable words feeds others and commends the faith of the gospel.

It nourishes many by giving happiness through kind speeches and pleasant actions toward neighbors, imparting joy and cultivating agreeableness for the benefit of church and society. Sweet words so spoken are acceptable and welcome, while a kind spirit refuses scandal, gossip, talebearing and contention. The tongue properly used exalts and defends the truth and gives a reason for hope, blessing both speaker and hearers.

Such nourishing speech exemplifies the Spirit of Christ, embraces every good word and work, makes every principle of the Christian religion practical, and belongs to winning souls, which is wise. Fools die for want of wisdom, and denying God through false reasoning is a fatal misunderstanding of God and truth. That includes the claim that life developed by evolution without a Creator, whose eternal results are nothingness and ignorance.
