The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
The Lord actively sustains the life of the righteous and will not permit their soul to famish. He withholds lasting possession from the wicked, casting away their substance so that it cannot be kept. Wealth in wicked hands therefore affords no enduring protection and yields no lasting gain.
