Proverbs 13:6

Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

Righteousness keeps and guards the person who is upright in the way and who walks uprightly, serving as protection for righteous living. Wickedness overthrows the sinner, bringing him to ruin and destruction as the path of wickedness ends in destruction. That ruin is certain even when others join in encouraging the evil and the wrongdoer thinks sin is the right course, for the outcome of sin is death. This is because Jehovah as creator and governor of the universe and disposer of human destinies rewards piety and punishes evil. The verse is a practical rule of life for moral and religious duty, showing the value of sincerity in everyday life.
