Proverbs 14:17

He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

He that is soon angry deals foolishly, for quickness to anger is itself folly. An uncontrolled temper and an uncontrolled tongue leave such a person in constant danger, since either can kindle strife at any moment. To act under anger also hands an advantage to one's opponents.

The harm done in even one fit of anger can last a lifetime. Those who witness it remember it, and those toward whom it is directed may never feel the same love again, unless their forbearance is unusually deep.
