Proverbs 14:33

Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

Wisdom is closely joined to understanding, nearer to it in meaning than to any other word, and it rests and dwells in the heart of the one who has understanding. To understand is to have the inward seat where wisdom abides, so that wisdom is not distant or external but resident within the understanding person.
Wisdom is distinct from mere knowledge, being the right use and exercise of knowledge rather than the bare possession of facts. It is the practice in life of what good understanding dictates, carrying out in action what a sound understanding directs. Knowledge can exist with little or no wisdom, but wisdom cannot exist without knowledge, since wisdom requires knowledge to act upon rightly.
