Proverbs 15:18

A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

An angry and wrathful person stirs up quarreling and conflict, while one who is slow to anger calms it and puts it to rest. For that reason those who serve the Lord must not strive or contend for superiority but must be gentle to all. That same gentle spirit must be shown as fully toward those who oppose the faith as toward those who agree, since only full and willing service in truth is acceptable to God.

In the home a mother's angry and impatient tone spreads itself to her children and harms the shaping of their character. Harshness makes the governing of children weak and burdensome, while a low, firm, patient voice helps prevent disobedience and soothes strife. Children carry the example with them and remember in after life both the gentle tone and the harsh tone left before them.
