Reverence for the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, so honoring God is the way to this wise honoring of parents. Loving Bible truth and obeying divine law honors God and thereby also honors father and mother. Following the example of parents in living faithfully by the light they had is part of truly honoring them. Refusing present truth out of deference to them does not honor them, for honor lies in walking in advancing light as they did.
