Proverbs 16:24

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Pleasant, gracious, kind and uplifting words are like a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and health to the bones and body, promoting health and well-being with a life-giving effect. The wise heart instructs the mouth, so that wise speech increases learning and benefits those who hear it.

Kind and sympathetic words bring healing like medicine, soothing the heart and helping souls in despair. Kindly words with small acts of attention refresh and strengthen people facing hardship, and Christlike sympathy can dispel temptation and doubt and open hearts to the influence of Christ's Spirit.

Mild measures, soft answers and pleasant words expressed with a conciliatory spirit draw people close and help reform, save and establish them in the right way. Harshness and unkindness can put people beyond reach. Harsh speech brings no blessing to the speaker or to anyone else.
